ginseng thieves!
« on: October 05, 2014, 06:34:11 AM »
I own 7 acres of which I grow ginseng on 2 acres and check it everyday.  On 9/17 I clipped most of my plants to dry for tea.  The only plants I left were about 65 wild/choice plants that I've been stewarding since '05 and a few that I missed during my clipping harvest.  My choice plants still had some berries and were not quite ready to clip.  The desicion to leave those choice plants bit me. On 9/26 I was going to harvest the berries and clip the plants but someone had beat me to it!  This was within 80 yards of my house!  Nothing, I mean NOTHING, is sacred anymore.  People have no conscience when it comes to robbing you.

I completely agree Reeder.  As a cop I see the lack of tolerance and respect for others on nearly a daily basis.  If you ask my boy, "if it's not yours?"  he will reply "DON"T TOUCH IT!"

I fail to understand why parents don't teach their kids this as much today, and why kids ignore what their parents teach so readily.

I'm going to have an entire surveilance setup before next season.  I will catch them.  Hopefully, the law is harsh on them.  It just seems like a person tresspassing or even stealing, won't be punished.  There is too many things that trump stealing.  Things that make our county money come before a theft stakeout.  Nothing against our enforcement but it sure makes a person feel taken advantage of.
