Well gang, here are the SELECT roots getting ready to do their thing. They arn't all up yet. They started a week or so before these pictures, but the weather got nasty and cold so they just sat there doing nothing. The few that had stretched over the straw didn't leave out or do anything for a few days. A week later, we got several days of nice weather again and these all started popping up. There are about that many again to still come up. The seed is there, some are open, some not, but the rain will bring them up I'm sure.
You will note some of the older roots I stuck back in the beds. There are a dozen or so older roots in those beds, and only two or three have started emerging so far.

Simple shade cloth. I found a great source for custom made shade cloth
http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/ That is a black 80% 10 x 40 with taped edges and gromets every two feet... it cost me $150 to my door. I like camo netting, but it gets brittle and hard to use after a few years. Also, it is getting more expensive. I'll let you all know how this works out. So far, I'm loving it.

Notice the three-leafers are still not flattened out yet. They are taking their time spreading out in this cooler weather we have been having (50-60 days and 30-45 nights)
