wanting to start 1-4 acres of artificial shade ginseng
« on: December 11, 2014, 08:06:47 PM »
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any websites I could look at that has info on stuff I will need to build artificial shade. I wannna get into the business. My family has a good bit of land I would like to try wild simulated and artifical shape. I can find all kinds of info on wild simulated but nothing on material and info on startup cost and steps to build artificially.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Ccogan05,

Welcome to the site.

I"ve seen diagrams of how to build lathe shade in some of the books.  I'm not home so can't look them up at the moment.  I think Dr. Persons early book had that diagram, but not sure if the last two do or not.

However, cheaper (in the long run for sure) is commercially made shade cloth.  I use 80%, but the commercial guys I know use 78%.  Shade is a big expense at about $10k/acre.  Posts, hardware, cables, and the shade itself and then putting it all in place.

I get my shade cloth from Greenhouse Megastore  http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/product/80-percent-black-shade-cloth/shade-cloth
