OLD AND SMALL

Went out this AM in the ADIRONDACKS and found some old but tiny roots. I tried to upload but images are to large. I can tell you they are about 15-20 yrs old and the root ball is about the size of a grape. Root shoots are about 7". I can email photos if anyone would like to see. Anyone have any idea why so small? any value in them?

If they are as old as you suggest with good wild character, they will certainly be highly valuable.  Size is just one of the aspects which makes up quality.  I high quality root with age that is bigger is worth more than one which is smaller, but even the small high quality root will have more value than a very large low quality root.

Yep, they are certainly small for that age.  However, they are quality ginseng as long as they are handled right from here on out.  You carefully dug them, and have washed them properly.  Now, its just a matter of letting them air dry and keeping them intact for the highest possible price.  Certainly they are not going to bring as high a price as the same quality (shape etc) root which is three times larger, but I'll never throw out a root like those.
