Wild Ginseng / OLD AND SMALL
« on: September 19, 2014, 02:52:53 PM »
Went out this AM in the ADIRONDACKS and found some old but tiny roots. I tried to upload but images are to large. I can tell you they are about 15-20 yrs old and the root ball is about the size of a grape. Root shoots are about 7". I can email photos if anyone would like to see. Anyone have any idea why so small? any value in them?

Wild Ginseng / NEW TO GINSENG....HELP
« on: September 21, 2013, 07:56:22 PM »
Hello Everyone!

I was out and about looking for hunting scrapes, droppings etc. I found ginseng on our property, and know little about it. Most plants arnt huge, but all 5 prong. Can someone give me some ideas on how to know for sure its wild, not simulated? How to tell the age the most accuratly, and any info on selling in Upstate NY? What to look for in best roots. Size length vs width? Some of mine are thick like a carrot, others are small like grapes but lots of notches. Should I leave them to let them get older even though they are 5 prong? ANY help would be appreciated. THANKS
