Has anyone ever raised ginseng in an elevated raised bed box? I was thinking of making one about 2 ft off the ground. My theory is that it would be easier to control pests. If I fo how deep do tje beds need to be for the winters. I live on Tennessee so our winters are fairly mild. What consistency of potting soil, sand and mulch is best?

I've contemplated that same thing Darren. My thought is to double up my growing space in the same footprint much like is commonly done in greenhouses. I think this would be a huge help with nematode issues.
My only concern is keeping them moist enough, without drowning out the beds below.
As I mentioned via email, I have a preferred mix ratio in the book http://www.emeraldcastlefarms.com/Products/book.htm (http://www.emeraldcastlefarms.com/Products/book.htm)
I've raised ginseng for a couple years ok in straight peat. I've never tried potting soil.
