: Where do you sell a very big root?
: Ravenwood September 16, 2014, 11:19:27 PM
I found an old ginseng root... I've heard that an extremely old root is worth big money. How do I find out its possible value and where is the best place to sell?

Hopefully some others will chime in here as well.

I guess it all depends on the root itself.  How big is it?  What is its shape and condition?  etc.

Maybe you can post a few pictures for us.

Nice find.  But, to be honest, it doesn't really have a lot of wild character, so I don't think there will be much of a specialty market for it.  However, you might try putting it on Ebay and seeing if you can get it sold.  If so, you must be able to get it certified to send it out of your state.  Some states require only dealers to be able to certify roots.  If you are in one of those states, your options are to become a dealer, or sell that root to one of the state's licensed dealers.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback... when you say "wild character", what do you mean?

These roots are the desired shape.  Notice the heavy rings, longer, thin necks, and the single bulb nature of the roots' shapes.
