Hi from Staten island NYC.  I have been reading a lot of the posts on this forum and it seems that quite a number of them have woodland to grow out the ginseng.  I don't have access to land like that.  But I do have 2,000 square feet of shaded backyard space with northern exposure suround by a red maple trees and pine trees.  Would this be enough space to grow ginseng and be able to make it profitable.

Hi Frank5921,

Welcome to the site.

It certainly is enough space to grow some ginseng.  What is profitable depends on scale of course.  If you are planting wild simulated in the edges of your yard under trees, it could be very profitable in 10-15 years.  However, you might even find a few raised beds with ginseng growing for four or five years and sold at considerably less than wild prices might also be profitable on a more steady pace.

Ok, I am sold....sound like its worth the effort, I will start building some raised beds this spring for a fall planting of ginseng.
