I have been digging some large, beutiful roots that have some real stubborn dirt on them. I give them a good swish in water after brushing the looser dirt off with my fingers. How clean do these roots need to be?

First, welcome to the forum Sunwyn.
Ginseng should never be completely clean. The dirt that is packed into the rings enhance its appearance and is desirable.

Thanks for the reply. I am glad they have a bit of dirt on them then. I have dug about four pound so far in between work shifts with loads more to dig. It is drying in a cool, dark room right now. Hoping to get a couple hours digging in a couple of days as I will have two days off in a row.
