I am new to the forum, I've just ordered seed, plants were all sold out. I want to plant & harvest for myself, I just want to learn all the up to date information on ginseng. I'm not seeing any recent 2013 post.

Hi Dorothy,
With few exceptions, you should be planting in the fall, not spring. Ginseng is a perennial plant, and most perennials are moved or planted in the fall because they come up so early in the spring.
That being the case, this is the 'off' season, and you won't see much activity at all until the plants start coming up again this spring. A month, maybe 6 weeks away yet depending on the weather.
At that point, interest among growers will steadily increase over the summer and then the diggers and dealers will get involved toward the fall harvest/planting seaon.
I hope this helps, and welcome to the site.
