Here is a picture of Charity with a few of our typical four to six year old woodsgrown roots. You would really be hard pressed to identify these as anything other than wild roots. (These are being dug for a customer to replace some lost in shipping last year)

Those plants are in good shape.
The dry weather here got the plants beat up.A few have already died back for the year...

Yes, they were in a small patch that was still partly shaded. Many of the plants are showing signs of heat stress this year. When I was up north, the 3s and 4s especially looked a little rough. Keep this in mind, as it will cause a mild seed shortage again next year. Many of the plants just aborted seed making because it was so hot.
